About the Chef

At just 20 years of age, and right out of culinary school, The Blue Door Chef Andrea Pace scored a highly coveted apprenticeship at Villa Mozart, the Michelin acclaimed restaurant in Merano, Italy, headed by the renowned Andreas Hellrigl. Chef Pace was so inspired by his time in Merano that he vowed to one day own a Villa Mozart of his very own.

Two decades later, Chef Andrea achieved his dream and opened Villa Mozart in Fairfax City, Virginia, where he masterfully fused old world cuisine with modern technique and flair. Villa Mozart offered the quintessential dining experience. Signature dishes like Chef Pace’s rye ravioli with fresh spinach and mountain cheese and flaky apple strudel – both nods to his childhood home in Italy, where German is also spoken – shared the menu with seasonal offerings inspired by the unique flavors of this region.

Today, Chef Andrea brings his love of fresh and seasonal ingredients and creative yet classic cuisine to Flint Hill, Virginia, at The Blue Door kitchen and inn. Slow-cooked sauces and handmade pasta and pastries embody the tantalizing flavors of our region’s harvest.
